Digital Design Camp
NC State Digital Design Camp
Digital Design Camp is a multi-discipline pre-college design program organized by the NC State Design Lab for high school and middle school students. Digital Design Camp aims to inform students about the study of design and raise awareness of the impact of design on all aspects of our everyday lives. The design thinking skills and creative experience gained can empower students on their path toward becoming innovative problem solvers and prepare them to tackle the challenges of the future.
Middle School Digital Camp
Design Foundations // Rising 6th, 7th and 8th Grade
June 21—25, 2021
A week-long introduction to design thinking and the design process for middle school students. Campers will explore a variety of design disciplines offered at the College of Design through 3 design projects with synchronous instruction.
Cost: $400 (includes instruction, Camp in a Box*, and guided activities)
Seats Available: 60

High School Digital Camps
Design Explorations // Rising 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Grade
July 12—16, 2021
A week-long exploration of design thinking and the design process through five discipline-specific studio projects: architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design, graphic design, and art + design. Campers will participate in a variety of synchronous and asynchronous instruction to complete projects and participate in activities that broaden their understanding of design and explore paths of a design major in college.
Cost: $500 (includes instruction, Camp in a Box*, and guided activities)

Design Immersions // Rising 11th and 12th Grade
June 15, 2021 // Early Summer Orientation
July 26—30, 2021 // Design Fundamentals Week
August 9—13, 2021 // Studio Project Week
An immersive, pre-college program that introduces students to the fundamentals of design and the process of creating portfolio quality projects in a virtual studio environment. Participants will experience self-guided, summer-long assignments and two weeks of synchronous and asynchronous instruction to create one studio project preparing them for college study in design and beyond.
