Charles Joyner
Bio
Charles Joyner received his BS degree in Art and Design from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, and his M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His work has won awards in national exhibitions and is exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the southeast. Artwork in public and private collections include the Huntsville Museum of Art in Huntsville, Ala., SAS Institute in Research Triangle Park, N.C., Atlanta Life Insurance Co. in Atlanta, Ga., the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Ministry of Education in Accra, Ghana.
He has been awarded two North Carolina Arts Council grants for public art projects in state buildings. Professor Joyner is currently the director of the Ghana Study Abroad Program, creating opportunities for students to visit and study in one of the greatest cultural centers in West Africa. He has lectured extensively in the College of Art at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He has an extensive background in university administration, serving as both department chair and assistant dean during his tenure at the College of Design
