Perver Baran, Ph.D.

Bio

Perver Baran is a faculty member and a faculty fellow in the Center for Geospatial Analytics in the College of Natural Resources, as well as an affiliated faculty with the College of Design’s Ph.D. program. She has taught doctoral and master’s level courses in the areas of geospatial analytics, computer cartography, research methods, and research paradigms. Perver holds a professional degree in architecture from University of Kiril & Methodij, Skopje, Yugoslavia, and a Masters and PhD in Urban Planning from Istanbul Technical University.

Perver’s current research interests include understanding how natural and built environments contribute to active living, health, quality of life, and sustainability. In particular, her most recent research has utilized GIS, space syntax, and immersive virtual environments (IVE) to understand how urban, neighborhood, and open space environments support neighborhood resilience, physical activity, park use, safety, and mental restoration.
