Kirby Culbertson

Bio
Kirby Culbertson is a digital artist and designer who has worked on projects ranging from newspaper comics to virtual reality research. He has worked for over ten years with the Center for Educational Informatics located on Centennial campus which focuses on using interactive media to research education. Kirby’s interest and research with CEI is often focused on storytelling and narrative development using modern interactive media. His role is to both produce and oversee digital art assets that include illustration, animation, 3D modeling, game design, and UI development. Kirby has also partnered with local design firms in his freelance work to produce animations for the UNC business school, UNC admissions department, and PBS as well as animation projects for festivals. Recently, Kirby has been teaching 2D animation, 3D animation, 3D character rigging and technical art development, and 3D modeling for the Media, Arts, Design and Technology department.
