Bio
Yuanqing Tian (Ching) is an Assistant Professor of Industrial Design with over 11 years of experience in design study. Prior to joining NC State University, Ching was a researcher at the Body Scan Lab within the School of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, where she completed both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees. Her research primarily focuses on the design of custom-fit wearable products, utilizing parametric design methods, 3D scanning technologies and digital fabrication tools. This work aims to address diverse user needs, enhance human health and well-being and create designs that can accommodate a broad range of individuals.
Ching’s current research explores broader human-centered design opportunities through the applications of emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, anthropometrics and ergonomics. Her areas of interest include wearable design innovation, health and wellness, and mass customization.
