Bio
Yuanqing Tian (Ching) is an Assistant Professor of Industrial Design with over 11 years of design study experience. Before joining NC State University, Ching worked at the Body Scan Lab within the School of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, where she earned her Master and doctoral degrees. Her research primarily focused on custom-fit wearable product design, utilizing parametric design methods, 3D scanning technologies, and digital fabrication tools. This research aims to address unique user needs, improve human health and wellness, and accommodate a broader range of populations.
Ching’s current research focus on exploring human-centered design opportunities through emerging technologies, anthropometrics, and ergonomics. Her interests include wearable design innovation, health and wellness, the concept of Mass Customization, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in design.
