Heather Durand
Materials Technology Laboratories Manager
220F Leazar
Bio
Heather joins the Materials Lab as a fellow NCSU alumnus, though with a more varied background and taking the circuitous route to the design world. Graduating from NCSU with a BS in Microbiology, and earning an MS in Environmental Health along the way from ECU, Heather has gained a lot of experience both on and off the job. With over 10 years of experience managing labs and facilities at both small biotech startups and at Duke University, she has lots of familiarity working with students, performing equipment maintenance, and overall just keeping labs running smoothly and safely. Outside of work, a series of life happenings led to an introduction to welding, which grew into a serious hobby. She’s happy to get her hands dirty and help out in any capacity possible.
