Bio

Adam Walters is a Licensed Landscape Architect and ISA Certified Arborist who serves as the Associate Director of the Pappas Real Estate Development Program at NC State University. His work focuses on the intersection of real estate development, design, and public health. As an educator, Adam guides the next generation of industry professionals through the fundamentals of real estate and the complexities of block-scale development.

Beyond the classroom, Adam leads the program’s applied research initiatives, organizing interdisciplinary teams of students and faculty to address “wicked problems” facing modern communities. He complements this work through his connection with the Global One Health Academy, where he serves as a core Instructional Faculty, reinforcing his commitment to creating healthy environments.

Adam’s academic leadership is grounded in extensive practice. He is the owner of StudioLOCI, a landscape architecture firm, and has held senior design roles on a variety of significant regional projects. Dedicated to the responsible growth of the region, Adam currently serves on the City of Raleigh Planning Commission and previously chaired the Design Review Commission, helping shape the regulatory and physical landscape of the community.

Adam holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from NC State University, a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences & Engineering from UNC Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Science from UNC Asheville.
