Bio
Jake is the founder of architecture and design firm …and other works, founder and executive director of [Diversify Architecture], house juror for Buildner Architecture Competitions, and professor of practice in the NC State College of Design. A graduate of the College of Design, Jake received the NCSU Alumni Legacy Award in 2021 for his commitment to social justice and diversity and received the NC AIA Young Architect Award in 2022. His design work has received recognition at the local, state, and regional levels.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in philosophy and anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Jake’s journey into architecture began while studying Arab-Israeli politics abroad in Jordan. His experience working with refugees while there, and later in Lebanon and Palestine at the outset of the Syrian Civil War, convinced him of the power of architecture and urban planning to create and destroy prosperity and potential. Returning to the United States, his efforts are now split between his creative practice through …and other works and the nonprofit work of [Diversify Architecture].
