Bio
ariana Farquharson is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the College of Design at NC State University. She brings her expertise in visual design, storytelling and creative research into the classroom. Her courses focus on topics ranging from contemporary issues in art and design to design theory and thinking.
Throughout her nearly 20 years of focused practice in graphic design, ariana has worked for small and global design and technology firms. She has produced creative solutions for a wide range of clients, from startups and non-profit organizations to higher education institutions and Fortune 500 companies.
After pivoting from traditional design practice to the digital humanities, she explores culturally-informed narrative and experience in digitally-induced immersion, leveraging technology as creative and collaborative medium. Her ongoing work seeks critical insights from early Black American literature and culture that can be adopted and adapted for modern 360° immersive experiences.
ariana is a proud alumnus of NC State, having earned her bachelor’s degrees in Graphic Design and English, her master’s degree in Media Arts, Design and Technology, and her graduate certificate in Digital Humanities. Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, ariana explores and expands her creative ventures at Foxxwork Creative.
