Newton D'Souza, Ph.D.
Bio
Newton D’souza is the Director of Doctoral Programs at NC State College of Design. He has previously held roles as Chair and Associate Professor of Interior Architecture at Florida International University in Miami, and as Director of Graduate Studies in Architectural Studies at the University of Missouri, Columbia. At FIU, he also directed the CoDEC lab (Collaboratory for Design, Environment & Cognition) and has published work on design cognition, emerging technologies, and environment-behavior studies. His latest book, “The Multi-skilled Designer: A Cognitive Explanation for Diversity in Architectural Thinking,” was released by Routledge Research in Architecture Series. D’souza earned his Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received the 2014 Ernest L. Boyer International Award for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Technology.
