Bio

David Oh is an educator and researcher with 20 years of industry experience, solving design problems as a UX, UI, Visual, and Graphic designer across enterprise and consumer brands. Prior to teaching full-time to cultivate the next generation of young designers, David had been part of a cloud-based SaaS enterprise that serves the audit, risk, and management needs of high-profile companies such as Apple, Tesla, Goldman Sachs, Walmart, and IBM, among many Fortune 500 companies. In this role, he worked as a part of the product, engineering, and design team to elevate product and marketing for clients and prospects. Before transitioning into the interactive design field, David was a key art illustrator and designer on advertising campaigns for entertainment brands such as Disney, Pixar, Hasbro, DreamWorks, and Activision.

His mission in teaching is to bridge the gap between academic discovery and industry application. Through partnerships with Lenovo, the intelligence community, and a start-up enterprise, David brought Research and Development (R&D) challenges into the classroom by introducing speculative UX and UI projects to students in the program, with an emphasis on rigorous user studies.

Outside the classroom, his research focuses on qualitative empirical studies to improve the design process, methods, and frameworks, benefiting both academic and professional communities to increase the value of design in society.
