Common Career Paths for Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning Majors

Landscape Architect – Plan and design land areas for projects such as parks and other recreational facilities, airports, highways, hospitals, schools, land subdivisions, and commercial, industrial, and residential sites.

Urban Planner – Develop comprehensive plans and programs for use of land and physical facilities of jurisdictions, such as towns, cities, counties, and metropolitan areas.

3D Modeler/Renderer – Create detailed, three-dimensional virtual representations of outdoor spaces, including terrain, vegetation, structures, and water features, allowing clients to visualize a landscape design before it’s physically built.

Environment Artist – Creates the virtual worlds for video games and films, using 3D modeling to build the environments, assets, and visuals that players or audiences see.

Parks Manager – Responsible for the planning, development, and maintenance of public parks, recreational facilities, and open spaces.

Landscape Designer – Create yard designs for homeowners that are both functional and beautiful by using plants, trees, grasses, and hardscape materials.

Installation Artist – Create large-scale, mixed-media artworks that are meant to transform or interact with specific spaces.
