15th Annual Urban Design Conference: March 15, 2018
Urban Disruption and the Equity Challenge
American cities are challenged balancing growth and development with creating equity for all of their citizens, including for their most vulnerable communities. Mid- to late twentieth century practices of urban renewal, highway construction, and regulatory policies tore apart minority and low-income communities. This legacy of disruption lives on in many cities today. The conference will examine this legacy and explore ways that the design community is engaging with these issues and will show examples of how they are being addressed across the country through design, development and policy.
