Three @ncstate_madtech student animations that began as senior capstones ended up on screen at ICON13`s Motion Commotion in Baltimore.
For Lily Barber, Sophia Vaughn and Sophie Gabriel, it was an opportunity to put deeply personal work in front of an audience beyond NC State for the first time, as well as fight the inner voices that make many creatives hesitate to share.

In his new book, “Graphic Designers After Graphic Design,” @ncstate_gxid assistant professor and host of @surfacepodcast Jarrett Fuller explores the increasingly blurry boundaries of the discipline through interviews, case studies and profiles of designers working across publishing, research, performance, art and more.
Ultimately, the book is designed to serve as a lifeline to those despairing about the “death of graphic design.”

From a 64th-scale model to a full-scale gathering space in 11 weeks. 🛠️
This summer, 15 NC State College of Design students designed and built The Crossover, a new pavilion at The Corner on Centennial Campus.
Along the way, they learned what happens when an idea meets steel, schedules, underground electrical conduit, real clients and a whole lot of collaboration.
Now The Crossover is part of campus, giving students, employees and visitors a place to gather, take shelter and enjoy something these students can point to for years to come and say, “I helped make that.”

That`s just one of the lessons @ncstate_architecture students brought home after 10 days on Maya Island, Kilifi County, Kenya.
During their visit, students traded their studio desks for an opportunity to create meaningful design through communication and adaptability in a cross-cultural setting.
Studio Kenya was led by Associate Professor Donghwan Moon in partnership with Pwani University to co-create a village-scale master plan that addresses infrastructure, mobility, resilience and community needs.
