For architecture alumnus Ted Givens (`95), curiosity has been the foundation of a career spanning the globe, from founding an international architecture practice in Hong Kong to designing buildings that respond to an increasingly unpredictable climate.
His work is driven by adaptability, collaboration and a belief that the best ideas often emerge through exploration. Whether sketching alongside clients or designing structures that evolve with their environment, Givens reminds us that architecture isn`t just about creating places but about discovering what`s possible.

Every tree has a story. 🌳
When a beloved oak in the Brooks Hall courtyard reached the end of its life, it wasn`t hauled away. Instead, it became the beginning of something new.
Students in our Urban Wood course transformed the tree into a hands-on learning experience, exploring how fallen trees can become furniture, objects and opportunities for more sustainable design.

The Design Pathways Program is helping bridge that gap by providing financial support, mentorship and a community of peers for students whose potential shouldn`t be limited by financial barriers.
