Co-Lab explores both the theory and application of mapping as a critical research tool, participatory mapping as a dialectical engagement device, and the value of mapping and visualization in fields outside of design.

Experience Design Lab

Experience Design Lab

The Experience Design Lab, a cross-disciplinary community, explores virtual and augmented experiences as a cultural practice. We take a human-centered approach, empowering artists, designers, humanists, scientists and engineers to delve into the evolution of our society through direct engagement with technology. We are passionate about creating experiences that benefit people while challenging current conceptions of the status quo. We actively invite collaboration with communities across NC State as well as partners in industry and other cultural institutions.

Visual Narrative Initiative

Visual Narrative Initiative

The Visual Narrative Initiative (VNI) is a community of researchers using new forms of computational scholarship and communication to increase the understanding of narratives about our past, present, and future.

VNI researchers work on identifying pathbreaking opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations between engineering and humanities disciplines, particularly those invigorated by the emergence of digital humanities at the intersection of computation, analytics, and interpretation.
