Meet the newest members of the College of Design Leaders Council for 2025

The College of Design is excited to welcome six new members to its Leaders Council.
Established in 2010, the Leaders Council of the NC State College of Design is a select group of alumni and friends in design-related professions across the country. Members of the Leaders Council support the college’s strategic direction, assist in securing financial resources to achieve its long-range goals and actively advocate for the college’s vision to become the leading public interdisciplinary design college in the country.

Meet our 2025 New Members:

David Bulfin
Senior Designer, The LEGO Group
David previously served as the Product Design Director at BOLTGROUP, a globally recognized design-innovation agency that has called Charlotte home since its inception in 1985. During a portion of that time, he was also the district chair for the IDSA. With experience developing a vast array of international award-winning commercial and consumer products from first sketch to store shelf, David’s work has influenced a diverse set of markets across numerous industries. With a well-honed technical aptitude and a knack for advanced development, David has led successful design-innovation teams across disciplines and across continents. You might also recognize him from Season 1 of America By Design, a short-form TV docuseries streaming on CBS in the United States.
David immigrated to rural Denmark in 2022. Today, he works as a design-innovator with The LEGO Group at their headquarters in Billund, helping to create dynamic experiences for builders of all ages. You can see some of his products on shelf at any LEGO retailer in the world. David holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree from NC State.

Ché Clark AIA, NCARB, NOMA
Chief Architect, MHG | Mason & Hanger
Miken Chéveyo Clark (Ché) serves as the Chief Architect at Mason & Hanger, a full-service A&E firm specializing in the global design of secure, mission-driven facilities. In his role as Architectural Group Manager, Ché also supervises the architecture team at the firm’s Virginia Beach, Virginia office.
Previously, Ché was the Senior Architect for the City of Virginia Beach within the Facilities Management Group. His responsibilities included administering and managing the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and developing and maintaining the City of Virginia Beach’s “Architectural Vision”. Before joining Mason & Hanger, Ché worked with Native American Design Services, a small design firm in Southeastern North Carolina, where he primarily collaborated with The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, of which he is an enrolled member. Throughout his career, Ché has contributed to design projects across the U.S. and in over a dozen foreign countries spanning four continents. He is currently a Registered Architect licensed in Kansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Che holds a Master of Architecture degree from NC State.

Jacquie Goyena
AI Design Manager, SAS
Jacquie is passionate about design education and is a well-rounded Design Thinking facilitator. She graduated from the College of Design with a Bachelor of Graphic Design, Minor in Textile Technology, and Minor in Art & Design. Beginning in 2012, she has returned to NCSU COD for multiple engagements as a guest speaker, adjunct professor, design industry teaching assistant, design thinking workshop facilitator, and career mentor.
Jacquie has worked in the design field for 17 years and within the software design field for 13 years, at companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500. In her career, she has designed for industries such as clinical trials, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, software development and deployment and tech hardware. Jacquie is currently the AI Design Manager at SAS Institute, within the Product Experience Division of R&D. She oversees AI projects for SAS products and solutions across the data and analytical life cycle, while also fostering a healthy creative space for Product Designers at SAS. Jacquie holds a Bachelor of Graphic Design degree from NC State.

Edwin Harris
Founder and Principal, Evoke Studio
Edwin Harris, AIA, NOMA, is a nationally recognized design leader and Co-founder of EVOKE Studio Architecture. Celebrated for generating bold, meaningful designs, Edwin has led work honored with over 50 design awards and national competition wins, including the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. His design prowess flourished during his years designing projects at The Freelon Group and Perkins&Will, where his visionary work on Emancipation Park earned him distinction as an Emerging Designer. In Architectural Digest, Edwin’s mentor, the late Phil Freelon, called him “a supremely talented architect on the rise.”
Named to the Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 in 2020, Edwin is widely respected as a thought leader whose work advances design excellence and community impact. His influence extends beyond the studio, serving on the University of Washington’s Architectural Commission and regularly chairs AIA chapter design awards across the country. He is a founding board member of Diversify Architecture and mentors K-12 and collegiate students nationwide. As a Professor of Practice at NC State University, Edwin is committed to empowering the next generation of designers to imagine, lead, and create a more just and inspired world. Edwin holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from NC State.

Harnish Jani
Managing Director and Partner, BCG X
Harnish “Jani” is an innovation & product executive, business builder, digital transformation practitioner and award-winning designer with 20+ years of eclectic experience launching industry-first disruptions that have substance, style and story for Fortune 500s, scaleups and startups while transforming their internal innovation culture and optimizing the core business.
Jani currently serves as the Managing Director and Partner at BCG X in Austin, the tech, design and business build unit of Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Since joining BCG in 2015, Jani co-led the firm’s Strategic Design Cohort for North America, a passionate group of designers driven by the mission “To build businesses that humans love” by transforming what humans value in business value through blending design methodologies and business strategy with the power of multi-disciplinary teaming. He holds a Master of Industrial Design degree from NC State.

Blair Richardson
Principal, MiniSuper Studio
Blair Richardson is the principal at MiniSuper Studio, a boutique design firm located in Mexico City. Her love of food and hospitality has led the studio to specialize in culinary projects, including branding for restaurants and package design. Early in her career, Blair trained in the lost art of hand-set movable type and letterpress at Yee-Haw Industries in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her next post found her in a more polished environment, working for many years under art director Lowell Williams at the international design consultancy Pentagram. She graduated summa cum laude from the Graphic & Experience Design program at NC State.
