Adrienne McKenzie’s finalist entry shown in London
Adrienne McKenzie was a finalist in the Open Fashion category of the 2020 Hand & Lock exhibition. Adrienne’s work will be displayed in the Bargehouse Oxo Tower in London as part of Fiberarts International 2022. Presented by the Fiberarts Guild and recognized around the world as a benchmark documenting trends and innovations in the field, the goal of the exhibition is to include work rooted in traditional fiber materials, structure, processes and history, as well as art that explores unexpected relationships between fiber and other disciplines.
Taking place from November 3-7, the Embroidered Arts Exhibition showcases the most exciting cutting edge, contemporary and historic embroidered arts from around the world. From military uniforms to protest banners, interior design and couture fashion, embroidery permeates every aspect of our culture. Discover the story of the skilled embroiderers whose expertise brings beauty and precision to the material world.
About Adrienne
Adrienne works full time in her professional field at NC State’s University Theatre in the Costume shop as the Costume Technician/First hand as well as designing costumes for plays as requested for the program.
With her three degrees, Adrienne uses a wide assortment of knowledge: techniques and materials, from Fibers to Digital Software, and love of literature, to effectively design and build her professional, creative work. Narrative, stories, characters and identity and how they relate to and are carried by the human condition/experience and connect/disconnect us all are expressed by her garments as they are conveyed via live performance on the stage and in public.
When not working at the NC State University Theatre, Adrienne has been engaged as a Lecturer at the College of Design teaching students such topics as Fashion Illustration, Sewing & Construction, Flat Pattern Making, Fibers: Materials & Processes, and Period Inspired Garments.

Fiberart International 2022 seeks to exhibit the best of contemporary art and invites submissions that reflect a wide range of works related to the fiber medium. The exhibition is recognized around the world as a benchmark that documents trends and innovations in the field. The goal of the exhibition is to include innovative work rooted in traditional fiber materials, structure, processes and history, as well as art that explores unexpected relationships between fiber and other creative disciplines.
FI2022 is produced by FIBERARTS GUILD OF PITTSBURGH, INC., a non-profit, member-supported organization that promotes the appreciation of fiber art and fosters its creative development and continuance. Since 1967, the Fiberarts Guild has sponsored juried exhibitions that bring innovative contemporary works of art in fiber from around the world to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. FI2022 will feature works by established and emerging artists and will be open to the public from June 3 to August 20, 2022. The Fiberarts Guild is pleased to sponsor this twenty-fourth exhibition.
