Lab Kit Software List

We use a wide variety of software at the College of Design; in addition to what is available from the NCSU OIT for basic software lab kit, the Bayley IT Lab also include certain unique software applications or render plug-ins requested by faculty for class or studio work. As such, some of the software installed may only be installed in the computers located in the Brooks IT Lab and not within the individual computing clusters. The majority of software applications are paid directly with NCSU Student ETF Funds for use with Classroom Technology and/or Student Computing Labs and Facilities.

In some instances, faculty and students may need to download and install a local/personal copy of the software for their own desktop computers and/or laptops. Certain software companies will require proof of enrollment or proof of employment from the academic setting in order for the licenses to activate – i.e. Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Autodesk Software Suite.

The lab kit is installed at the beginning of the semester and changes/updates to the software list during the semester will be on an as-needed basis. Some licensed software from a previous semester may not be installed for the current semester if there was no faculty request for class access or the software may currently be installed on designated computers only. 

Fill out the Software Request Form to let the IT Staff know what software tools you are looking for or that you might want to recommend for class/studio use in the future.
