If you think it, you can make it.
Our Digital Fabrication and Makerspace facilities support faculty research, student creativity and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Digital Fabrication Studio and Maker Space
Traditional Operating Hours
The William Keating Bayley Information Technology Laboratory houses the Brooks Lab Maker Space as well as provides support for several hybrid computer cluster spaces available in Brooks Hall, Leazar Hall and Kamphoefner Hall.
The Digital Fabrication Studio @ 111 Lampe Drive is home for the Industrial Design program for the College of Design which opened the Fall of 2023 as a premiere hub not just for faculty and students, but also as the Community Center for the Industrial Designers in the Triangle, alumni and designers throughout NC.
The Digital Fabrication Studio and Maker Spaces blends a variety of software and tools for generating real world, functional prototypes in support of ongoing curriculum for Industrial Design, Architecture and other interdisciplinary focused projects and multidisciplinary research for industry/outreach on campus.
Contact one of the Full Time staff members for consultation/assistance.

Direct access to the 3D printers is not available to users. Please plan ahead.
Please note that the Maker Space is unable to print ABS plastics, or any filaments
with corrosive additive materials such a metal fills or carbon fiber fills.
You may be able to print directly to the MakerBot Sketch 3D printers in the hybrid computer clusters or access the Ender 3 V2 Pro 3D printers in Lampe Digital Fabrication Studio.
Please email us (design_digitalfab@ncsu.edu) before purchasing filaments for use in the Maker Space use to insure we can support them properly. Your prints may be free as some disciplines and faculty members have pre-purchased filament/resin materials for student use within a studio/class.
A short list of approved PLA/PLA+/PETG vendors is also available on our 3D Printing Filament Guideline here.
For list of approved 3D print filaments that have been tested with the Fusion3 F410 3D Printer please visit:
