Dear Colleagues/Students:  

In one month, on February 15 and 16, the PhD in Design and Doctor of Design programs will undergo a joint external review.  This review is organized by NC State University’s Graduate School and sanctioned by the SACS accreditation commission (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools). Required for every program on a multi-year cycle, external reviews comprise an integral part of the University’s academic assessment process.   

Naturally, the College of Design is very proud of our doctoral community. Both doctoral programs touch us in different ways—in teaching and learning; research and scholarship; and of course advising and mentorship. We strongly encourage your participation in this important event. Our goal is to provide the visiting review team with the best and most fulsome picture of our doctoral program aspirations and experiences.    

Doctoral program review is being facilitated by officials of NC State University’s Graduate School and staffed and coordinated for the College of Design by Associate Dean Soolyeon Cho, Dr. Elen Deming, and Program Assistant Ashley Pearson.

Further, to make it possible for our outstanding external review committee to join us, all meetings will be held virtually. A series of relatively short roundtable Zoom meetings have been scheduled to address the many distinct constituencies of our doctoral programs. Depending on your roles, you may have been invited to more than one meeting—we thank you for attending as many as you can.  

We are extending separate Zoom invitations for participants; if at all possible, please be sure to add your voice to this important review.
