Building Energy Performance M&V

PM&V

This course provides students with an introduction to the cost-effective Measurement and Verification (M&V) of energy and water savings, as well as the evaluation of related building performance characteristics such as Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ). Several protocols and guidelines are covered, including the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP), ASHRAE Guideline 14, Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) M&V Guidelines, State Performance Contracting Program (SPCP), and Environmental Evaluation Initiative in Buildings (EEIB). Students will learn the fundamental concepts and methods for evaluating a building’s energy and water performance, as well as its IEQ and renewable energy resources.

Course Objectives

After Completion of this Course, the student should be able to:

  • discuss building performance measurement metrics.
  • measure and verify energy and water savings.
  • evaluate the performance of IEQ and renewable energy systems.
