The operations team has been hard at work preparing for the fall semester. Please find a few updates below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screenprinting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brooks 100 has undergone renovations this summer. We\u2019ve also consolidated equipment from the dye lab in Leazar 230 to the room in Brooks 100 so all screenprinting activities occur in one place. Please keep the door shut when not in use. Users must undergo a brief safety orientation to use the space. Please email design_materialslab@ncsu.edu<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n

Rolling Scrap Traps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The rolling scrap traps outside studio spaces have been decommissioned as, despite numerous campaigns to control them, they gravitated towards glorified trash heaps and represented fire hazards due to cluttered hallways. The design operations team will be hosting several scrap trap exchange meets to facilitate recycle\/reuse of materials throughout the semester. More information on those will be circulated closer to the dates of the events as time\/place is TBD. A larger scrap bin does still exist in the Materials Lab in Leazar 220, though it has changed in shape a bit over the summer [see picture].\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Portable Spray Booths<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The CoD has been expanding its portable spray booth program. The first portable spray booth was piloted last year in the Lampe inner courtyard. The Summer Crew fabricated 4 more this summer! While Leazar Hall continues to have the larger, 24-hour accessible paint booth (LEZ 220C and D), we\u2019ve expanded the portable spray booth program for more hyper-local usage. There are (2) located on Kamphoefner\u2019s 3rd floor, one at the North End and one at the South End. There\u2019s (1) located at the Brooks 1st floor south breezeway just outside of the Brooks 109 doorways. (1) at Leazar Hall’s 3rd floor West balcony and (1) at Lampe\u2019s inner courtyard. Please remember to ONLY spray in these designated areas (both paint and spray adhesives). <\/p>\n\n\n
