Twenty faculty from 12 universities and seven companies will conduct LAS research projects this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n The Laboratory for Analytic Sciences at NC State University will provide research funding to 20 faculty collaborators representing 12 academic institutions as well as seven industry organizations. Collaborators will conduct research projects in partnership with LAS staff. Collaborators are selected by NC State through the annual white paper<\/a> proposal process.<\/p>\n\n \u201cThis year\u2019s projects continue to align with LAS\u2019s strategic research initiatives in human-machine teaming, content triage and operationalizing machine learning,\u201d says Matthew Schmidt<\/a>, director of programs at LAS. \u201cThese initiatives are not mutually exclusive, and many 2023 projects will address two or more research initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n Specifically for 2023, LAS selected collaborators who will focus on the following technical areas: machine learning, video analysis, audio\/speech analysis, cybersecurity, information science, human-computer interaction (HCI), user experience (UX) design, and cognitive science.<\/p>\n\n *New LAS collaborators for 2023<\/em><\/p>\n\n Collaborators are working with LAS staff to define each project\u2019s goals and objectives for the year and how they align with LAS\u2019s research initiatives<\/a>.
