Abbott Miller, Sharon Poggenpohl, Michael Rock, Katie Salen, Jon Sueda, Elizabeth Sanders, Louise Sandhaus, Martin Venezky, Susan Yelavich, Stuart Candy, Paul Pangaro, Deborah Forster, Michael Yap, Benjamin Gaydos, and Caroline Sinders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research Assistants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A few opportunities to work with faculty as Research Assistants on both theoretical and applied projects are available. Otherwise, qualified students may apply in the Spring semester for an Assistantship in the following academic year. Positions are awarded based on GPA, experience, and departmental needs. MGXD III students are typically not eligible for a TA position, with some exceptions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Preparation for Teaching at the College Level<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master of Graphic &amp; Experience Design program offers one of the few teaching seminars in the country. Designed to prepare graduate students for academic careers, the course covers topics such as curriculum and course development; classroom pedagogy; critique strategies; program assessment; balancing the teaching \/ research \/ service obligations of faculty; and grant writing in support of faculty research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>MGXD Publications<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students contribute to and participate in the production of MGXD publications, including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/design.ncsu.edu\/yesand\"><strong>Yes And<\/strong><\/a>, the public graduate blog,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/design.ncsu.edu\/andso\/\"><strong>And So<\/strong><\/a>, the online graduate journal, as well as an annual MGXD bulletin that features student and faculty essays and design work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Off-campus Events<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular field trips and local \/ regional lectures and conferences complement course content. An off-campus retreat held at the beginning of each academic year convenes graduate students and graduate faculty for a weekend of workshops, discussions, good food, relaxation, and fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hunt Library<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students regularly create content for the Hunt Library\u2019s state-of-the-art digital platforms, such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.ncsu.edu\/node\/2075\">Teaching and Visualization Lab<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.ncsu.edu\/node\/2074\">Creativity Studio<\/a>, and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.ncsu.edu\/node\/2028\">iPearl Immersion Theater<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-media-divider ncst-media-divider has-orange-400-box-color with-box box-position-left\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__container\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__image-container\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__image\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/design.ncsu.edu\/graphic-design\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/06\/Hunt_Creativity-Studio_1.jpg);background-position:53% 78%\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/design.ncsu.edu\/graphic-design\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2021\/06\/Hunt_Creativity-Studio_1.jpg\" alt=\"Hunt Library creativity studio\"\/><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__content-container\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__content\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__statement\"><p class=\"ncst-media-divider__statement-content\">Hunt Library Creativity Studio<\/p><p class=\"ncst-media-divider__attribution\">One end of the Studio features two high-definition blended laser projectors and a curved screen ideal for immersive presentations.
