VR Workshop for Education

This workshop will focus on the fundamental skills of virtual reality and immersive design for science educators. Register at: http://go.ncsu.edu/vrplantsworkshop

Funded by the ASPB BLOOME grant for Plant Biology Education, this workshop is offered by an NCSU research team developing Virtual Reality experiences for educational use.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Educators (particularly in STEM) of grades 6-12 & Higher Education interested in utilizing Virtual Reality and other immersive media within their course content.

AFTER THIS WORKSHOP: You’ll receive certification of your participation, recognizing your new skills in Virtual Reality education, development, and exhibition.

This Workshop will take place from 10am-2pm on April 6th at DH Hill Library. 
A free lunch buffet will be provided consisting of vegan and vegetarian-friendly options. Further dietary restrictions can be accommodated; simply email cpkeena2@ncsu.edu for more information.

In this workshop you will:
-Use 3D Scanning for digital specimen representation and display
-See how Virtual Reality programs and web tools can make a lasting impression for students
-Build your first webVR site with the THREE.js language ‘A-Frame’
-Encounter tools to start making content in VR immediately
-Meet and network with other science educators using technology in the classroom
