Sound of September – A 9/11 Sonic Narrative

EVENT DESCRIPTION: Back by popular demand with an augmented, encore presentation. Mark Evans [MAD ’16], recent masters graduate from NC State’s College of Design, will present a multi-media installation of his autobiographical memories of 9/11 delivered in a surround-sound experience. The 13-minute piece is comprised of original sounds, raw news files, personal files, sound effects and various types of musical backdrops. Evans will also discuss how he created the piece, including his research on autobiographical memory and semiotics in sound that informed it.
