Guest Speaker: Governor James B. Hunt, Jr.

Former Governor Jim Hunt will speak on December 3 at 4:30 pm in Burns Auditorium. The lecture is part of Landscape Architecture Professor Gavin Smith’s “Survey of Natural Hazards and Disasters” seminar course and is open to the public.
James Hunt Lecture 12.3.2019James B. Hunt Jr. is a former four-term Governor from the State of North Carolina who led disaster recovery efforts following two of the state’s worst disasters – Hurricanes Fran (1996) and Floyd (1999).

Governor Hunt will discuss the role of gubernatorial leadership in disasters, including some of the actions he undertook to procure federal assistance, push for the creation of state programs to address unmet needs, and the importance of serving as an advocate for the state’s citizens in times of crisis.
