DC Network: Volunteer at Capital Area Food Bank

June 10, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Volunteer with fellow NC State alumni at the D.C. Distribution Center for the Capital Area Food Bank.

Saturday | June 10 | 1 p.m.

Capital Area Food Bank | 4900 Puerto Rico Ave. NE | Washington, D.C.

The CAFB works with a network of 500 partner agencies to source out over 40 million pounds of food.

The minimum age to volunteer is 12 years old and any youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

This project typically involves packing and/or sorting donated food. It also can include packing for CAFB programs and assisting with various other tasks at the food bank. All of these tasks are considered light/medium labor and typically involves standing up for up to three hours and lifting up to 35 pounds.

This activity will take place in either the food donations room or repack room and the temperatures can fluctuate. Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.
