She has served as principal investigator on multiple grant-funded projects from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Kresge Foundation, the California HealthCare Foundation and the US Green Building Council. Her current research is supported by the National Institute of Environmental Health (NIEHS), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Buffalo Hospital Foundation. <br><br>In January 2000, Dr. Cosco and Dr. Moore co-founded the\u00a0<em>Natural Learning Initiative (NLI)<\/em>, with responsibilities for design programming and research of outdoor areas for children with and without disabilities.<br><br>Dr. Robin Moore is an international authority on the design of children\u2019s play and learning environments, user needs research, and participatory public open space design. Dr. Gallagher&#8217;s work interprets, theorizes and assesses civil rights-related discourses and commemorative projects, as well as public art and urban communication through a visual and material rhetoric lens. She is the co-editor and contributing author of the book, Communicative Cities in the 21st Century. While keeping an active practice, he is enthusiastic about applying new technologies in the research and teaching of landscape architecture. He is a recipient of more than 20 teaching, design, and research awards, including the ASLA National Honor Award in Research, the CELA Award of Excellence in Teaching, the EDRA Place Award in Research, and the UK Landscape Institute (LI) Landscape Innovation Shortlist Award. Sara\u2019s research investigates mapping methodologies with the goal of facilitating deeper, more diverse understandings of urban systems and the processes which shape physical place, cultural space, and social territory.
