The people, mission and context

The mission of The Green Chair Project is to reuse furnishings donated by the community to help neighbors in need. The organization serves families across Wake County, North Carolina, facing the challenge of homelessness, crisis, and disaster. Their ultimate vision is to see lives change as families and individuals are nurtured and sustained in well-equipped homes.

The problem

The Green Chair Project was facing challenges managing their growth given their existing physical space and operational processes. At the time of the class, the organization was undergoing construction on a new showroom and was prepared to implement any feasible proposals to help them get to a thousand families served by 2020.
