Students in A Survey of Design Studies at NC State’s College of Design looked into what past faculty and students had contributed to technological innovation in the world of architecture and design. Utilizing the Special Collections of the Library and NC State, students were able to review primary source materials—drawings, letters, original manuscripts and journals to get better insight into who the amazing leaders are and what they meant to the College of the Design, the NC State community and the larger design and architecture profession.
Phil Freelon: Architecture with a Purpose
Phil Freelon is an architect from Durham, North Carolina. Freelon graduated from NC State University in 1975 with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Design and then pursued his Architecture Masters at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1989, Freelon was the recipient of the Loeb Fellowship and spent a year of independent study at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. (read more)
