Elizabeth Bobbitt Lee (1928-2010) becomes the first woman to graduate in Architecture with a bachelor’s degree. Lee served as president of the NC chapter of the American Institute of Architects and was a fellow in the AIA. She also served on the NC State Board of Trustees.

The School of Architecture and Landscape Design was renamed the School of Design in September of 1948.

School of Design established on May 23, 1948. Henry Kamphoefner was brought in as the first dean and serves in the position until 1973.

Division of Architecture and Landscape Design established. Landscape Architecture program removed from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and  Architecture program from the College of Engineering to create new division.
