Art 2 Wear

Art2Wear, a student-organized runway show that presents fashion, costume and wearable sculpture created by the students of the College of Design at NC State University, is celebrating its 16th year.

“The whole theme of the university is think and do, and that’s exactly what we’re doing here,” said Quinan Dalton, a senior in the Art + Design department whose work will be featured in Art2Wear. The show allows students to showcase their talents in fashion, textiles and jewelry, as well as event planning and production.

Participating in the show is a time-consuming endeavor with significant financial commitments. Grace Hallman, another senior in the Art + Design department, received an undergraduate research grant to help cover her Art2Wear expenses. However, Hallman acknowledged she would still have hundreds of dollars in out-of-pocket costs. Increased private support would likely encourage more students to participate, Hallman said.

“It’s always a good opportunity when you have the financial means to make what you’re envisioning in your mind and not having to cut back on your creativity,” she said.

This year’s Art2Wear show is April 28 at Talley Student Union. Tickets are on sale now.
