Husqvarna Group is the world’s largest producer of lawn tractors, lawnmowers and gas-powered garden equipment. Opportunities are now available for an Industrial Design co-op/internship for the Spring/Winter terms from June 2014 through December 2014.
The North American design center is in Charlotte NC and includes a staff of 7 experienced and creative professionals from many disciplines of design that supports our Consumer, Commercial and Construction divisions.
Husqvarna group will have a paid co-op position coming available for an enthusiastic and talented Industrial Design student. The position will provide student designers with opportunities to apply their design skills to real world scenarios in a large manufacturing business atmosphere. Product lines include: gas and electric chainsaws, gas and electric line trimmers and blowers as well as walk-behind lawn mowers, zero-turn-radius mowers, riding tractors, garden tillers, snow blowers and construction equipments.
Private label products branded for retail include: Sears, Lowe’s, Home Depot and Wal-Mart.
In-house brands include: Husqvarna, Poulan, Poulan Pro, McCulloch, Dixon and Weed Eater.
The Industrial Design intern job tasks include:
Participate in concept design tasks / workshops and generate sketches of ideas and solutions.
Study brand design guidelines and use as reference in generating brand design solutions.
Follow directions and provide support to multiple members of design staff as requested; manage time and inputs to complete assignments within scheduled deadlines; proactively communicate to maintain awareness of expectations and status of progress.
Observe and practice computer rendering techniques, participate in workshops and assist design staff in preparing 2D brand design proposals
Support senior staff in preparing materials for design presentations; explain and discuss concepts/ideas in workshops and design reviews.
The Industrial Design intern required technical skills and other qualifications:
Free hand sketching, computer rendering, digital illustration and image manipulation, model making,
Must be able to: follow directions; keep work and area organized; present ideas to others verbally in a group setting; work effectively in a team environment.
Position is open to: All Juniors and non-graduating seniors and Grad Students. Position is for summer and fall terms. (Start/End date TBD based on Scholastic requirements and schedule.)
