VAE’s gallery intern program will work with the exhibition director to coordinate group exhibitions in the Main Gallery and the Exchange Gallery featured artists. Task include promoting calls for artists, managing art delivery and juries, managing exhibition design and installation, First Friday event preparations and documenting gallery exhibitions. In addition, the gallery intern will help market and plan programs for artists.
Qualifications: Studio art, art applications or art history major. Some experience with gallery or exhibition practices preferred. Basic computer skills, ability to organize information, word processing and graphic design skills needed.

CAM Raleigh’s December First Friday program includes after-hours access to the galleries, student docents in the GirlTalk exhibition, a book swap in the museum lobby, new hands-on activities at the creation station, music by DJ duo Chateau, MIXTAPE (an hour of live performances and presentations by area artists), food trucks, and a cash bar.

First Friday admission is $5 and FREE to all members, children 10 and under, and NC State College of Design students, faculty and staff.
December 7 First Friday Schedule:
Porchetta and Baguettaboutit food trucks in the courtyard from 6:00–10:00 p.m.
Book Swap in the lobby from 6:00–9:30 p.m.
Student Docents from 6:30–8:30 p.m.
MIXTAPE in the classroom from 8:00–9:00 p.m.
Creation Station in the street gallery from 6:30–9:00 p.m.
DJ Chateau from 7:00–10:00 p.m.
Museum open until 10:00 p.m.
About the Book Swap:
CAM Raleigh will host another Book Swap from 6:00–9:30pm in celebration of our current exhibition, GirlTalk: Women and Text. You are invited to bring in between 1-10 books and swap them for other books! The following printed media are accepted: books, graphic novels, art books, chapbooks, comics, manga… no magazines please. Any remaining books at the end of the night will be donated to local thrift shops. Don’t forget to BYOBag to carry all your new swaps home with you!
Book Swap items will be accepted at CAM Raleigh during regular museum hours starting Monday, December 3 through First Friday, December 7.
CAM Raleigh offers a unique art experience to mix into your First Friday. MIXTAPE is an unforgettable hour of live performances and presentations curated and hosted by Triangle-based arts writer and MIXTAPE founder Chris Vitiello.

— Multimedia artist STACY LYNN WADDELL (Chapel Hill) creates an impromptu installation with projections and text
—Singer/songwriter CHRISTY SMITH (Raleigh) of the Tender Fruit croons a set to break your heart

About the First Friday DJ:
Chateau is a collaborative project between Sean McKee and Michael Perros deeply rooted in disco, boogie, and house, and firm in their search for the perfect beat. The CAM Raleigh First Friday DJ series is curated by J. Yu.
The Student Publication will be having a Launch Exhibit for this year’s volume at First Friday!

RALEIGH, N.C. (November 19, 2012) — The Department of Art + Design at the College of Design will be hosting this year’s Art + Design Senior show at The Fish Market on Friday, December 7 from 6:00 p.m. The Fish Market is located in downtown Raleigh at 133 Fayetteville Street. This event will be part of First Friday.
The theme of the event is “Final Chapter” and will showcase works from Art + Design seniors who will be graduating in December and May. The show will represent the best work they created during their time at the College of Design. Work in categories ranging from illustration, fibers, photography, animation, printmaking, and garments from N.C. State’s Art to Wearfashion show will be on display.
This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

First Friday is a free self-guided tour of downtown’s cutting edge cultural hot spots. Local art galleries, art studios, alternative art venues, and museums stay open late the first Friday of every month to welcome thousands of art-seeking enthusiasts downtown.
