This past Thursday, September 27, 2012, Refresh the Triangle held a panel discussion to connect design students and web professionals to “find your calling in the web industry.” The event, hosted by NC State University’s College of Design, invited the panel to hold a candid conversation about the practice of web design and development.
Panel members included: Sarah Kahn, UX Engineer at Adzerk; Nate Hunzaker, Front–End Developer at Viget Labs; Tim Swezy, interdisciplinary artist and designer; Marc Phillips, Project Manager at Relevance, Inc.; and moderator Jean-Paul Haire, VP and Head of Design at Deutsch Bank.
Refresh’s panel provided a detailed view of the roles of designers and developers in a work environment. Panelists expressed the importance of communication, collaboration, and culture to producing successful projects and fulfilling careers.
After the panel discussion, students were able to interact with recruiters and professionals from companies like Viget Labs and IBM Interactive.
Stay tuned for more information on future “meet-up” opportunities.
