Jaclyn is a development program specialist with over two years of fundraising experience in the university setting. As a former business owner in the field of design and the daughter of an architect, she truly enjoys the design process. She is passionate about finding creative solutions for donors. Although she is technically a Pirate, she bleeds red.
Marvin J. Malecha, FAIA, arrived at the College of Design in 1994 to accept the position of Dean of the College of Design. For 12 years prior, he was dean of the College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Malecha earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University. He was recognized as the 1980 Rotch Traveling Scholar.
Carla Abramczyk heads donor and alumni relations as the Executive Director of Development. She came to the College of Design in May 2002 from the NC State Engineering Foundation where she served for more than two years as development director for the Chemical Engineering Department. Abramczyk has held several advancement positions at NC State University over the past seven years.
Prior to moving to Raleigh from Cleveland, Ohio, Abramczyk’s background was in public relations and event planning. She received her BA in speech communication from Penn State University.
Dottie Haynes serves as the College’s University Fiscal Officer and has worked for the College of Design since October, 1990.
Professor Rice received a BLA degree from the University of Oregon in 1973. After practicing professionally in California he attended the Harvard Graduate School of Design where he received a Master of Landscape Architecture with Distinction in 1978. At graduation he also received the Charles Elliot Traveling Fellowship.
Amanda provides career assistance to all students in the College of Design including resume reviews, advice on preparing for interviews and information about the job/internship search process. She also works with students and faculty on issues related to academic advising. Prior to joining the College of Design in November 2010, Amanda worked in Career Services at UNC Chapel Hill and Boston College. She has worked in a number of other student services capacities including academic advising, orientation and leadership development.
Dr. Celen Pasalar’s expertise involves organizing and promoting numerous design and planning projects for the benefit of communities primarily throughout North Carolina. Pasalar received her undergraduate degree in architecture (1997) from Middle East Technical University in Turkey and her master’s degree in urban design (1999) from the same university. She has received her doctorate degree from the College of Design, NC State University with a focus on Community and Environmental Design in 2004.
Since 1999, Marchant has been an administrator from the faculty of architecture and urbanism at the Unversidad de Chile. He brings 32 years of experience in professional practice in France and in Chile, 25 years of experience teaching and eight years of experience as an administrator.
Marchant received his architect diploma from Universidad de Chile and his master’s degree in the history of modern and contemporary architecture from La Sorbonne in Paris, France, where he is a doctoral candidate in art history.
